Jakarta (ANTARA) – Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Fadel Muhammad mengatakan, banyak negara yang berminat untuk mencari para pelaut dari Indonesia agar dapat bekerja di beragam industri kelautan dan perikanan di negara mereka. ”Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP) membuat terobosan baru untuk bagaimana mengatur permintaan yang semakin banyak untuk tenaga kerja pelaut Indonesia,” kata Fadel di Gedung KKP, Jakarta, Rabu. Menurut dia, dalam kunjungannya ke berbagai negara di kawasan Eropa, ternyata sejumlah perwakilan dari negara itu mengemukakan bahwa mereka membutuhkan banyak tenaga kerja seperti untuk mengisi posisi di kapal pesiar.
Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan menuturkan, pihak negara Eropa membutuhkan banyak tenaga pelaut antara lain karena pekerjaan tersebut ternyata sudah tidak banyak lagi diminati di negara-negara yang terletak di kawasan tersebut. Setelah mendengar hal itu, Fadel menyadari bahwa ternyata terdapat peluang yang bisa diambil sehingga KKP berupaya menciptakan terobosan dengan membuat program lintas kementerian antara lain dengan Kementerian Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi, Kementerian Pendidikan, serta Kementerian Koperasi dan UKM. Ia memaparkan, terobosan tersebut adalah penyelenggaraan International Job Fair on Marine and Fisheries yang akan digelar di Jakarta, tepatnya di Gedung SMESCO UKM, 23 – 25 Mei 2011.
